Photography Gear I Use
I’ve listed all the gear I use along with links to where everything can be purchased. If you’ve ever wondered how I hang my backdrops or which lenses I use, keep scrolling for the answers. I’ll be adding even more over the coming days including book I recommend for business and creativity.
Camera and Lenses
Canon EOS 5D Mark IV
This is my go-to camera. I love everything about it from the quality of images to the wifi capability which allows for wireless shooting and tethering.
Canon 85 f/1.4L Lense
This lens is awesome when I’m wanting a very shallow depth of field.
Canon Battery Grip for Mark IV
I love using my battery grip when on location or doing a longer shoot as it can hold 2 batteries at once. I also just like the way it feels in my hand.
Canon 24-105 f/4L Lens
I use this lens for shooting portraits often as well. You just have to be mindful of the distortion due to the wide angle when zoomed out.
Canon 70-200 f/2.8L Lens
This lens is great especially during the pandemic. It’ll allow you to back way up to keep more than 6ft distance from your subjects.
Lighting
Elinchrom ELC 500 Dual Kit
These are awesome studio strobes. I’ll even take them on location as long as there’s a way to plug them in. I have yet to have an issue with mine.
If you’re on more of a budget you can purchase the lights individually here as well as purchase the ELC 125 kit here or 125 individual light here.
PocketWizard PlusX Transceiver
If you are on a budget consider these as a replacement for the Elinchrom Skyport. I’ve got a few of these and still use them.
Elinchrom ELB 500 Kit
These are great when you need something more portable or you just don’t feel like dealing with chords. The lights and battery are very small and lightweight.
Photek Softlighter
These are one of the most inexpensive modifiers available and the soft light they produce is stunning. I use these all the time. If you are working in a smaller space, consider using the medium (46 in.) size.

Elinchrom Quadra Reflector Adapter MK-II
These are a MUST have if you’ve got the ELB 500 lights. This adapter will allow you to connect the lights to any Elinchrom Modifier as well as Photek Softlighter.
Elinchrom Rotalux Deep Octabox 100cm
All of Elinchrom’s modifiers are amazing in their own right. This one is on the smaller side but still produces beautiful soft light.
Elinchrom Skyport Transmitter Pro
I love my skyport transmitter. It allows me to remotely control my Elinchrom lights as i’m shooting. Just make sure you get the right version for the brand of camera you have.

Elinchrom Snaplux Kit
These modifiers are small. I like to use them to light part of my background sometimes for a little extra depth as well as many other uses depending on the shoot.
Grip
Impact 6" End Jaw Vise Grip
This is what I use to hang my hand painted backdrops. Couple this with a C-stand or the wheeled base stand and you are all set.
V-Flat World Foldable V-Flat
Whatever it is, the way you tell your story online can make all the difference.
Matthews 40" C-stand with Grip Head and Arm
I can never have too many c-stands. I use them for everything from lighting to backdrops to holding all kinds of props.
Glow 8x8' Portable Scrim
Whatever it is, the way you tell your story online can make all the difference.
Impact Folding Wheeled Base Stand
This portable rolling stand is one that I’ve used on location to hang backdrops during fast paced shoots where we need to constantly be on the move.
Neewer 6 Pack Sand Bags
Whatever it is, the way you tell your story online can make all the difference.
Elinchrom Handheld Boom Arm
Anytime I’ve got an assistant with me they are usually acting as my human light stand which means they are holding one of these boom arms with a light and modifier attached.
Large Heavy Duty Clamps
Whatever it is, the way you tell your story online can make all the difference.
